Pete
Just as Jesus called children to Himself, so we welcome children and young people to St. Peter's and aim to introduce them to Jesus.
Children and young people are important and integral members of St. Peter's and our aims for them reflect the vision of the church as a whole.
We want them to:
- Learn to worship God who made them and loves them.
- Feel they belong to the church family by building meaningful relationships.
- Grow in their faith by understanding biblical truths that will impact their young lives.
- Feel confident in sharing their faith in Jesus with their friends.
- Begin to serve the church, family and wider community
The groups are run by a dedicated team of leaders who each lead one session a month. We operate a child protection policy and all our leaders are CRB checked.
Our main service starts at 10.30am. On most Sundays, children stay in church for the first 10 minutes or so of the service and then go to their groups according to school years. Towards the end of the service, the groups come to the front of church to share with the whole congregation what they have been doing. Children then return to their parents/carers so that we can conclude our act of worship all together as a church family.
The groups' team leaders are as follows:
- Crèche (0-2yrs) - Verity Genders
- Pebbles (pre-school and reception) - Jo Smith
- Stepping Stones (years 1 & 2) - Amy Jackson
- The Rock (years 3 to 7) - Liz Bowes-Smith, Alison Quarton, Jenny Cooper.
On the 2nd Sunday of the month, we all stay together for a service of all age worship which aims to be shorter than usual and more accessible for children. There is still a Crèche and Pebbles group.
If you wish to speak to a team leader then please contact us for more details.
St. Peter's Youth (SPY)
Meets on a Sunday evening at 7pm and is for those at secondary school. We run a programme of social events and interactive bible studies with the aim of investigating our Christian faith for ourselves and learning to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, at the same time as living the lives that God has given us to the full!
On the third Sunday of the month St. Peter's youth take part in an informal evening service at 7.00pm.
Here is the SPY programme for Autumn 2010
