Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ
Caring for others is the responsibility of every Christian believer, and we all need varying levels of pastoral care in different seasons. At St Peter’s we want to be a church family who walk with one another through the ups and downs of life.
We encourage everyone to be involved in a small group (these are called Rooted Groups). One of the most important aims of all our small groups is to be a supportive Christian community to one another. Rooted Groups are the principal place where we give and access pastoral care.
That said, we recognise that some pastoral issues are more complicated, and that some people in the parish might struggle to get to church. If you are carrying something which you would like extra support for, we can connect you with a member of our pastoral team who will listen and pray with you. Sometimes this may involve signposting to professional counselling services.
Join a Rooted Group
We’d love everyone in the church family to be connected to a Rooted Group (even if they are not always able to attend). This is the primary place where we get to know each other and show love and support.
Request a home visit
The pastoral care team is available to visit those who are elderly or housebound and unable to regularly attend church anymore. If you or someone you know would appreciate a home visit, let us know.
Pray with someone
We offer Prayer Ministry at the end of each service on a Sunday for those who want to to seek prayer for themselves, to pray through a concern they have for others, or simply to share in giving thanks for God’s blessings to them.
Request practical help
A group of willing volunteers takes meals to people in need e.g. after the birth of a baby or a spell in hospital. We may also be able to help in other financial or practical ways. Please pass on both requests and offers of help.
